The West Sea Coast Guard Rescue Team installed lifting bags to tow a motorboat to a safe area after rescuing three crew members from the motorboat that sank off the east side of Songido, Yeonggwang County, around 11 a.m. on the 2nd. Provided by the West Sea Coast Guard.
View original imageThe West Sea Coast Guard handled nine major and minor emergency situations between the early hours of September 2 and 3, including rescuing three people who fell into the sea after a motorboat sank and transporting emergency patients.
According to the West Sea Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, around midnight on September 2, they received a report that a crew member from vessel A had fallen into the sea while the ship was anchored off Anmado Island in Yeonggwang. Four patrol vessels and one aircraft were dispatched for the rescue, but unfortunately, the crew member was found dead.
Later that morning, a report was received that a motorboat had sunk off the east side of Songido Island in Yeonggwang, leaving three crew members adrift. A rescue boat was immediately dispatched to the scene. In Wando County, two emergency patients from two different islands were transported to the mainland.
Shortly after midnight on September 3, around 1 a.m., a report was received that a car thief had jumped into the sea near North Port in Mokpo. The suspect was rescued from the water and apprehended. In total, nine incidents and accidents were handled within a single day.
