Man in His 30s Sentenced to 2 Years in First Trial for Stealing Valuables from Park Narae's Home
A man in his 30s has been sentenced to prison in the first trial for stealing valuables from the home of television personality Park Narae (age 40).
On September 3, Judge Park Ji-won of the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Division 1 sentenced Jung (age 37), who was charged with theft and nighttime residential intrusion, to two years in prison.
Jung was brought to trial for breaking into Park's home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in April and stealing valuables worth tens of millions of won before fleeing. Jung also attempted to dispose of the stolen goods as stolen property.
Judge Park stated, "The defendant has admitted to the charges and returned the stolen items to the victim," but explained the sentencing by adding, "However, the defendant has previous convictions for similar offenses, the stolen items were of considerable value, and the victim has requested a severe punishment."
