Gwangju Police Win Prime Minister's Award for Voice Phishing Prevention Activities
The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency announced on September 2 that its telephone financial fraud (voice phishing) prevention activities won the Silver Award, which is the Prime Minister's Award, at the Public Service Design Performance Sharing Contest hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
At the contest held the previous day, the Gwangju police presented voice phishing prevention measures from the public's perspective under the theme "A Lifetime to Save, A Moment to Lose." In particular, they redefined the voice phishing issue from the viewpoint of the elderly aged 60 and above, who have suffered the most significant losses of over 100 million won.
From January to May of this year, 68.4% of voice phishing reports filed with the police involved victims aged 60 and above.
