Gijang County in Busan Named "Outstanding Institution" in Busan City's Local Tax Collection Evaluation
Ranked First Even Among the Largest Tax Revenue Group A
Achievements in Tailored Tax Administration Services
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) has been named an "Outstanding Institution" in the "2025 Local Tax Collection and Management Performance Evaluation" organized by the city of Busan.
This evaluation was established to comprehensively assess the local tax collection performance of the 16 districts and counties, with the aim of expanding local finances and promoting the dissemination of best practices.
Busan divided the 16 districts and counties into A, B, and C groups according to the size of their tax revenue, and conducted a thorough evaluation across 16 items in four areas: efforts to improve collection rates, performance in assessment and collection by tax category, achievements in current work, and best practices.
Gijang County was recognized for its achievements by being selected as the top institution even within Group A, which includes the largest tax revenue districts.
The county attributes this result to the establishment of detailed plans, such as setting target collection rates by tax category, and strengthening taxpayer-oriented administration. In practice, the county quickly and accurately identified the main points of civil complaints through a "two-way text message service," and introduced the "electronic document (Kakao notification message) local tax notice delivery" system, enabling tax notices to reach taxpayers who have difficulty receiving mail, such as those with unknown addresses or those residing overseas. These efforts were part of a multifaceted campaign to promote tax payment.
