The first attempt has been made to discover the design assets of local companies that have driven the industrial foundation of the Daejeon region, and to collect and preserve them as public records.

Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Daejeon Design Promotion Agency are carrying out the "Daejeon Design Historical Data Collection and Archiving Research" project. The goal is to systematically collect, analyze, and document the diverse design assets accumulated by companies in the Daejeon area, ultimately establishing a "Daejeon-style Design Archive."

In particular, this initiative will shed new light on the historical value and industrial contributions of design, while laying the groundwork to transform these assets into creative resources that can be publicly preserved and utilized.

Lee Changki, Director of the Daejeon Design Promotion Agency, stated, "Design is not just an outcome, but the identity of a company and a part of urban culture. However, many design results disappear without being documented after their initial impact. Rediscovering and accumulating these as regional assets is at the core of this project."

A citizen survey was conducted to select local companies that have led Daejeon's industry and culture. Around 10 companies will be chosen as final archiving targets, and on-site investigations, interviews, and the collection of design assets will be carried out in cooperation with these companies.

Companies that cooperate with this research will receive a customized design archiving report, as well as various benefits in terms of publicity and collaboration, including the opportunity to be linked to the government "Korea Brand Awards."

A representative from the Daejeon Design Promotion Agency commented, "The design assets of local companies can serve as cultural records that prove regional identity, going beyond simple consumer experiences. They can also be powerful marketing strategies and serve as evidence of a company's continuity. We hope this research will become the starting point for a living archive of the region's industry."
