Statutory Inspections and Major Equipment Maintenance
to Be Conducted for 44 Days Starting September 1
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Wolseong Nuclear Power Headquarters (headed by Jung Wonho) announced that Wolseong Unit 2 (a 700,000 kW-class pressurized heavy water reactor) was shut down at 4:00 p.m. on September 1 for statutory inspections and preventive maintenance to enhance reactor safety. The unit has entered its 23rd scheduled preventive maintenance process, which will last approximately 44 days.

During the scheduled preventive maintenance period, Wolseong Unit 2 will undergo regular inspections in accordance with the Nuclear Safety Act, replacement of the 48V charger and battery for the uninterruptible power supply system, disassembly and inspection of low-pressure turbine #2, inspection of the steam generator, and other equipment maintenance and inspections. After completing these procedures and obtaining approval from the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, the unit is scheduled to resume power generation around October 15.
