Dong-A University Selected for Final Round of Ministry of Education’s G-LAMP Program
Annual 5 Billion Won Investment, 25 Billion Won Over 5 Years
Dong-A University Becomes a National Hub for Atomic Science-Based Convergence Research
Dong-A University (President Lee Haeu) announced on August 29 that it has been selected for the University Basic Research Institute Support (G-LAMP, Global-Learning & Academic research institution for Master's·PhD students, and Postdocs) program, which is overseen by the Ministry of Education.
With this selection, Dong-A University will receive a total of 25 billion won over the next five years (5 billion won annually), positioning itself as a national hub for quantum chemistry and medical convergence research based on future atomic science.
This achievement is the result of the concentrated research capabilities in basic sciences at the College of Natural Sciences at Dong-A University. Jeong Jinwoong, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Professor of Biomedical Science, will lead the research institute as the head of G-LAMP. In particular, Dong-A University’s strong capabilities in convergence research spanning chemistry, physics, life sciences, and medicine were highly evaluated and led to this outcome.
Dong-A University plans to accelerate the development of next-generation precision diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, centering on the Innovation Center for Atomic Science (ICAS), directed by Kang Doyoung. As the only atomic science-based research hub in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions, it is expected to make significant contributions to strengthening the nation’s research capabilities.
President Lee Haeu of Dong-A University stated, "Being selected for the G-LAMP program marks a turning point for Dong-A University to become a leading research hub in atomic science representing South Korea," and added, "With an annual investment of 5 billion won, we will spearhead cutting-edge convergence research and the cultivation of global talent."
Director Jeong Jinwoong said, "Through convergence research based on natural sciences, we will produce world-class research achievements," and continued, "We will do our utmost to ensure these achievements contribute to balanced regional development and the enhancement of national scientific and technological competitiveness."
