The event included a screening of a video about the school’s history, a reading of the Declaration of Independence by the principal and a student representative, the sealing of the time capsule, performances by a student band and saxophone players, and group singing of the Liberation Day song and the school anthem.
The time capsule contains creative items from students, such as letters to future students, Korean history exam papers, school uniforms, and cafeteria menus. It will be opened at the school’s history museum on the 100th anniversary of Liberation in 2045.
Yang Changho, principal of Dongnae High School, said, "It is an honor to host this event at our school in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation. I hope our students will inherit the spirit of justice and humanitarianism found in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and grow into outstanding individuals in the future."
