"Sweet Fruity Whisky"... Limited Edition 'Talisker The Wild Blue' Released
Talisker The Wild Blue:
A Limited Edition Matured in Atlantic Red Wine Casks
Commitment to Sustainability and Marine Conservation
Diageo Korea announced on August 28 that its single malt Scotch whisky brand, Talisker, will launch a limited edition of its new product, "Talisker The Wild Blue," at major supermarkets nationwide.
"Talisker The Wild Blue" is the first product from the Talisker distillery to undergo final maturation in red wine casks from the Atlantic coast. This process creates a harmony of sweet fruit notes and smokiness not found in existing Talisker expressions. In particular, the whisky was matured for 16 months in wine casks carefully selected from the South African coast, resulting in a deep flavor profile that blends raisins, figs, pepper, and smoke.
This new product stands out not only for its unique flavor but also for its commitment to sustainability. The product incorporates eco-friendly elements throughout. It uses a 100% recycled glass bottle and a paperless, environmentally friendly package, reducing packaging-related carbon emissions by 74%. Additionally, the whisky production process has reduced water usage by 21%, reflecting efforts to protect marine ecosystems.
Notably, for every bottle of "Talisker The Wild Blue" sold, 3 pounds (approximately 5,000 KRW) will be donated to the Blue Marine Foundation, an organization dedicated to marine ecosystem protection. The donations will be used for a project to restore oyster and seagrass meadows in the Solent region of southern England. The Solent Restoration Project is expected to make a significant contribution to restoring the health of marine ecosystems by providing new habitats for marine life.
