Police Summon Local Politician Over Alleged Payment of Opinion Poll Costs for Lee Junseok
The police have summoned a local politician, identified as Mr. Bae, as a suspect over allegations that he covered the cost of a public opinion poll for Lee Junseok, leader of the Reform New Party.
The Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 27th that it had called in Mr. Bae for questioning on suspicion of violating the Political Funds Act.
Mr. Bae is suspected of providing the funds for a public opinion poll when Lee ran for the leadership of the People Power Party in 2021. The following year, in 2022, Mr. Bae prepared to run for the position of Goryeong County Governor in the local elections but failed to secure the party nomination.
