Out of 72 entries, including 29 municipal governments and 43 public institutions, 18 cases-8 from municipalities and 10 from public institutions-passed the preliminary round and presented their best practices.
Yeoju City worked closely and continuously with Korea Electric Power Corporation to attract power supply facilities (substations) to its industrial complex, providing a practical solution. The head of the Urban Development Division personally presented the case, which significantly shortened the project period and greatly improved the stability of the power supply, leading to the city winning the final Encouragement Award.
Each substation has a capacity of 200 MW, and with two new substations scheduled to be established, Yeoju City is expected to be able to stably meet all power demands for its development projects. In addition, this will create a favorable environment for attracting large-scale power-using companies and for the location of facilities that benefit residents.
