BNK Kyongnam Bank Conducts 'Financial Education' Program for Foreign Workers
Providing Customized Education to Improve Financial Literacy
BNK Kyongnam Bank announced on the 26th that it had conducted financial education for foreign workers.
This financial education program was organized to help foreign workers prevent financial fraud they may encounter in Korea, and to support them with safe financial transactions and rational asset management methods.
A specialist instructor from the Financial Consumer Protection Department visited the Geoje Foreign Worker Support Center and provided customized education to about 30 foreign workers, covering topics such as opening and managing bank accounts, as well as methods to prevent financial fraud, aiming to improve their financial literacy.
Kim Kyungok, Executive Director and Chief Customer Officer (CCO) in charge of financial consumer protection, said, "We have partnered with the Geoje Foreign Worker Support Center to conduct financial education in Geoje, where many foreign workers reside. I hope that foreign workers will gain various information and, at the same time, acquire the confidence to maintain a safe financial life."
Ha Sungyoung, Director of the Geoje Foreign Worker Support Center, stated, "I hope that foreign workers, who contribute to the development of local industries, will be able to enjoy a happy life in Korea through safe financial transactions. Furthermore, I expect this education to have a virtuous cycle effect on the local economy."
Meanwhile, BNK Kyongnam Bank had operated a 'Sunday Moving Bank (mobile branch)' from April to July to improve financial convenience for foreign workers in the Geoje area.
