Union Biometrics Signs MOU with YPet for Pet Biometric-Based Business Collaboration
Union Biometrics, a company specializing in biometric security solutions, announced on August 26 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with YPet, a pet healthcare company, to jointly pursue new business initiatives based on companion animals.
Through this agreement, the two companies will collaborate in several areas: the activation of pet biometric nose print recognition technology and registration; the promotion of embedded microchips for pet body temperature and health check healthcare services; market development and marketing cooperation targeting public institutions; and joint sales and technical support for smartphone-based products. Their goal is to accelerate the digital transformation of the pet industry and jointly discover new business opportunities.
Union Biometrics possesses the world’s first commercialized contact-based nose print recognition technology. This technology enables the precise identification of individual dogs, similar to how fingerprints identify humans. The company plans to develop this into an expanded digital authentication model by integrating it with YPet’s pet healthcare services.
This digital authentication model includes a procedure in which veterinarians capture and register nose prints through contact and verify matching scores to improve registration quality. In addition, the digitalization of “nose prints” will be promoted step by step in accordance with the current legal framework of the animal registration system.
A representative from Union Biometrics stated, “This will serve as an opportunity to expand the biometric-based animal registration and authentication system in the pet industry. In particular, we hope to enhance both reliability and industry adoption by collaborating with veterinarians at home and abroad on the nose print business.”
