"Night Uljin" Draws Enthusiastic Crowds,
Illuminating Summer Nights in Uljin
The "Night Uljin" program, launched by Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province to extend the stay of summer tourists and showcase unique nighttime tourism resources, concluded successfully with an enthusiastic response.
Following this, all major beaches officially closed on August 24, marking the successful completion of a safe and pleasant summer operation.
This year, with the opening of the Donghae Line railway, it has become even more convenient for visitors from major cities such as Busan and Daegu to reach Uljin using ITX-Maum and Nuriro trains. Travelers can enjoy the journey itself as a pleasure, taking in the scenic ocean views and experiencing a relaxing trip.
To enhance visitor convenience and revitalize local tourism, Uljin County has introduced free rural bus services and operated tourist taxis, providing transportation options that have been well received by families.

Held from July 29 to August 3, the "Night Uljin" event lit up the nights of Uljin with active participation from family tourists.
Major attractions such as Wangpicheon Park Cable Car, Aquarium, Ground Fountain, Seongnyu Cave, National Uljin Marine Science Museum, Bongpyeong-ri Silla Stele Exhibition Hall, Freshwater Fish Ecology Experience Center, and Yacht School extended their hours into the night, gaining significant popularity. In particular, the Wangpicheon Cable Car saw more than 1,200 visitors in just three hours after 6 p.m., and the night yacht experience also received high praise from tourists for its unique nighttime charm.
Additionally, "Market Sum," held at the Wangpicheon Park Food Court, offered a variety of foods such as pork barbecue, potato pancakes, cold raw fish soup, chicken skewers, and children's menus, drawing more than 3,000 visitors over six days. Combining local cuisine and hands-on experiences, "Market Sum" established itself as a popular attraction, providing tourists with a unique summer night in Uljin.
Especially notable was the surprise event staged by Uljin County’s Culture and Tourism Department staff, who dressed up as ghosts and grim reapers and entertained visitors throughout the tourist sites, bringing laughter and delight to children and families.
Furthermore, nighttime landscape lighting was installed along the Wolsongjeong Barefoot Walking Trail and the stretch from Euneo Bridge to Wangpicheon Park Pine Forest, making these areas popular spots for enjoying evening strolls and soaking in the atmosphere of Uljin at night.

Uljin County’s major beaches, which opened on July 16, completed their 38-day operation, closing on August 24.
Alongside the "night tourism" program, Uljin County operated some of the East Coast’s cleanest beaches, attracting a large influx of tourists during the peak summer season.
Mangyangjeong Beach, with its wide sandy shore and open East Sea vistas, was especially loved by families, while Nagok Beach, with its unique scenery of rocky outcrops, was bustling with young travelers.
Gusan Beach, known for its clear waters and dense pine forests, was popular among campers, and Hupo Beach, offering marine leisure activities such as sea fishing and yachting, emerged as a sought-after destination for extended stays.
In addition, natural attractions such as Hupo Skywalk, Seongnyu Cave, Euneo Bridge, Bulyeong Valley, Deokgu Hot Springs, and Wangpicheon Park provided tourists with opportunities to relax in pristine nature during the day and enjoy unique nighttime experiences through "Night Uljin" after sunset.
With the simultaneous closure of all local beaches, Uljin County has wrapped up the peak season operations. The county plans to continue environmental maintenance and safety management even after the closure to ensure that residents and visitors can continue to enjoy the facilities comfortably.
▲ Becoming the Center of East Coast Tourism
On January 1, Uljin County experienced a historic transformation: for the first time since Uljin began to make its mark in history, a railway line was opened.
With the advent of "train travel," a theme previously unavailable in Uljin, there is now heightened interest among tourists seeking travel and leisure in using the railway.
Tourist taxis, which provide convenient transportation for visitors arriving in Uljin via public transport such as the Donghae Line trains, are receiving a positive response, allowing tourists to comfortably tour major attractions. In addition, Uljin offers some of the most generous fare subsidies in the country, enabling travelers to explore without financial burden, which has been met with favorable feedback.
