Celebrating Gaya’s First Constellation Discovery and History
Haman County, South Gyeongsang Province, announced that more than 3,000 people participated in the 6th Mari Mountain Star Festival and Mari Mountain Game, which were held over two days from August 23 to 24 at the Haman Museum and the Mari Mountain Ancient Tombs, successfully bringing the event to a close.
The Mari Mountain Star Festival is a signature cultural event of Haman County that commemorates the historical significance of Tomb No. 13 at Mari Mountain, where the first constellation of the Gaya period was identified. It offers family visitors the opportunity to experience both the stars and history together.
This year’s festival featured a variety of programs that received an enthusiastic response from attendees, including a humanities lecture on the theme of "The Power of Good Questions," a magic show blending science and magic, a band performance that enhanced the atmosphere of a summer night, and a stargazing experience using astronomical telescopes.
The "Mari Mountain Game," held in conjunction with the Haman Museum’s summer vacation program, also attracted great interest from festival participants. Inspired by "Squid Game," this hands-on activity allowed children and families to enjoy unique games such as Mari Mountain Flower Has Bloomed, Our Family Jump Rope GO, Water Gun Olympics, and craft experiences, offering a special summer memory over the two days (August 23-24).
