Even dogs enjoyed surfing!
Silla University (President Heo Namsik) announced on August 21 that its I-URP Project Group for Pet-specialized University Innovation Research Complex conducted the marine leisure experience program '2025 PET SUP CAMP' for pets and their owners.
On August 16, many citizens and their pets gathered at the Gwangalli SUP ZONE beach to participate in the marine leisure experience.
At the '2025 PET SUP CAMP', co-hosted by the Silla University I-URP Project Group and Surf Marine, pet owners and their pets began with a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) safety lesson led by Kwon Ikjun, team leader of Surf Marine, and then enjoyed various marine leisure activities such as paddleboarding in the sea.
This program was designed to promote the creation of a pet-friendly city and revitalize the local economy by providing marine leisure experiences that can be enjoyed with pets at Gwangalli, a marine tourist destination. It also aimed to improve trust and communication between pet owners and their pets, as well as enhance animal welfare.
According to a satisfaction survey conducted after the event, a high proportion of respondents selected 'very satisfied', with many commenting that it was a unique experience to safely enjoy marine leisure with their dogs. The university explained that this reflected the popularity of the program.
The Silla University I-URP Project Group stated, "It was an opportunity to offer pet owners a new experience and to help Busan establish itself as a pet-friendly marine city."
