Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Seoul Nuclear Power Headquarters (headed by So Yoo-seop) held the inauguration ceremony for the 8th Citizens' Observation Group for Saeul Units 3 and 4 at the Seoul Nuclear Power Headquarters Welfare Center on August 21.
During the three-week recruitment period in July, a record number of 761 residents and university students from Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam applied to join the Citizens' Observation Group, demonstrating significant interest in nuclear power.
The 50 members of the Citizens' Observation Group, selected through an open application process, received their appointment certificates at the inauguration ceremony. They officially began their activities with a special lecture on nuclear power by Professor Jung Beomjin from Kyung Hee University's Department of Nuclear Engineering.
So Yoo-seop, Head of Seoul Nuclear Power Headquarters, stated, "I hope the Citizens' Observation Group will help increase understanding of nuclear power plant construction and serve as an opportunity to communicate with citizens by transparently sharing information about the construction process." He added, "We ask for your diverse opinions and continued interest to ensure the safe construction and operation of Saeul Units 3 and 4."
