"Enhancing Human Rights Sensitivity to Raise Disability Rights Awareness"
On-site Human Rights Education
for People with Severe Disabilities in Sejong City
On-site civic human rights education was provided for people with severe disabilities.
According to Sejong City on August 21, this program was held at the Saetteul Vocational Rehabilitation Center in Jochiwon-eup. The initiative aimed to improve access to human rights education for people with disabilities who receive job training at social welfare facilities by bringing the education directly to them and tailoring the content to their needs.
The Saetteul Vocational Rehabilitation Center is a vocational training facility for people with disabilities, offering job function and adaptation training as well as sheltered employment opportunities for those with low basic vocational skills.
The training was led by Son Jungwon, an instructor commissioned by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, and focused on enhancing human rights sensitivity and preventing human rights violations. Through the program, participants gained a deeper understanding of self-determination and dignity in their daily lives and job training processes, and developed a practical attitude of respecting their own rights and the rights of others.
