Mayor Shin Sangjin of Seongnam attended the "Used Battery Handover Ceremony" held at Moran Hall in Seongnam City Hall at 10 a.m. on August 21, where he encouraged children from private daycare centers and childcare staff who participated in environmental protection efforts.

In his greeting, Mayor Shin expressed, "I extend my deep gratitude and applause to our children who have practiced love for the environment by collecting used batteries with their small hands."
He further emphasized, "The voluntary environmental protection efforts of daycare centers serve as an excellent model that creates a synergistic effect with the city’s environmental policies. For the children, who are the leaders of the future, this will become a valuable environmental education experience that they will remember for a lifetime." He also called for continued commitment to environmental protection.

A total of 22 people attended the event, including 12 directors of private daycare centers and 10 children. The meaning of environmental protection was further highlighted as 35 boxes of used batteries (approximately 400kg), collected continuously by daycare centers belonging to the association, were handed over to the city.
