OCI Launches Company-wide Energy Saving Campaign in Celebration of Energy Day
Internal Campaign to Mark Energy Day on August 22
One-Week Employee Participation in Energy-Saving Activities
On August 21, OCI announced that it will launch an internal campaign encouraging employees to practice energy-saving activities for one week ahead of Energy Day.
Energy Day, which falls on August 22, is a commemorative day designated by the Energy Citizens’ Coalition, the largest energy-focused NGO in Korea, to highlight the importance of energy and raise awareness about energy conservation in response to the climate crisis.
Through this campaign, OCI aims to encourage active participation from employees in energy-saving activities and contribute to addressing the climate crisis and reducing carbon emissions.
Company-wide, OCI will promote various energy-saving practices that can be implemented in daily life, such as raising air conditioning temperatures by 2 degrees (setting indoor temperatures to 26-28 degrees Celsius), using public transportation, unplugging unused electronic devices, and turning off unnecessary lights, to encourage employee participation.
Additionally, OCI will hold an event through its internal platform, awarding prizes to employees who share proof of their energy-saving activities in daily life, thereby fostering greater interest in energy conservation and overcoming the climate crisis.
Meanwhile, OCI Group is leading climate crisis response at the group level by strengthening Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management and conducting various eco-friendly campaigns.
The "OCI Forest Cultivation" campaign, which has been operating since 2023, was designed to create healthy urban forests and contribute to carbon reduction and ecological protection. A 3,000-square-meter (approximately 900 pyeong) forest is planned for Ichon Hangang Park in Seoul. Twice a year, employee and family volunteer groups from OCI and its affiliates participate in tree-planting activities, with plans to plant over 10,000 trees by the end of this year.
In addition, to mark World Environment Day in June, OCI conducted a company-wide "Used Clothing Donation Campaign" throughout the month, collecting a total of 143 boxes of goods to be delivered to underprivileged communities overseas, thereby promoting sharing and contributing to resource circulation.
