Sejong City to Conduct Civil Defense Drill for Air Raid Preparedness: "Evacuate When the Siren Sounds"
Emergency Vehicle Clearance Drill to Be Conducted Alongside Civil Defense Exercise
As the Ulchi Exercise is being conducted nationwide, a civil defense drill in preparation for air raids, linked to the 2025 Ulchi Exercise, will take place for 20 minutes starting at 2:00 p.m. on August 20. This drill is designed to strengthen citizens' response capabilities in emergency situations.
According to Sejong City, when the air raid siren sounds across the city at 2:00 p.m. on this day, citizens must quickly evacuate to the nearest civil defense shelter, which can be found in the basement of nearby buildings or in the underground parking lots of nearby apartment complexes.
Returning to daily activities will be permitted after 20 minutes, once the all-clear signal is given.
In particular, to raise awareness of emergency vehicles and enhance citizens' safety consciousness, Sejong City will conduct a drill to clear the way for emergency vehicles, supervised by regional fire stations and with cooperation from the police. This drill will involve fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles, and will be carried out at five locations: near the commercial district in Chimsan-ri, Jochiwon-eup; near the Seonggeum intersection in Eojin-dong; and in front of Geumnam Elementary School in Daepyeong-dong, among others. Prior to the drill, safety guidance text messages will be sent out, and information about the drill and safety procedures will be broadcast live on KBS Radio 1.
