Seoul SMEs Call for Greater Interest and Support from City Council
Calls for Expansion of SME Support Programs and Other Key Initiatives
The Seoul Regional Headquarters of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business visited the Seoul Metropolitan Council to communicate the industry's difficulties and request continued interest and support.
On the 20th, the Federation announced that its Seoul Regional Headquarters held a meeting with Choi Hojung, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council.
The meeting was organized so that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and cooperatives in Seoul could convey their current issues and challenges, and request the council's continued interest and support. The event was attended by Park Jongseok, Chairman of the Seoul SMEs Association, as well as 15 others, including the heads of Seoul's industry-specific SME cooperatives.
SME representatives from Seoul who participated in the meeting made several proposals, including: expanding Seoul's SME and cooperative support programs; fostering the electric vehicle maintenance industry in Seoul; increasing opportunities for cooperatives to participate in tourism export promotion; and relaxing eligibility criteria for participation in the modernization of traditional markets in Seoul.

Park Jongseok, Chairman of the Seoul SMEs Association, stated, "Due to the recent increase in both domestic and international economic uncertainties, the business environment for SMEs is becoming increasingly challenging. Therefore, we requested institutional improvements and full support from the city council." He added, "As SMEs are the backbone of the local economy, revitalizing them is crucial to revitalizing the region. The SME cooperatives in Seoul will wisely overcome this crisis through collaboration and the activation of joint projects."
