Suwon City to Cover Up to 30% of Out-of-Pocket Costs for Home Medical Visit Services
Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will operate a pilot project to support out-of-pocket expenses for the "Suwon Saebit Care (For Everyone) Home Medical Visit Service" until December 15, 2025.
The support is available to citizens who meet the eligibility criteria for "Suwon Saebit Care (For Everyone)" and have difficulty visiting medical institutions due to illness, injury, or mobility issues. This includes those who cannot move around alone, those who lack family care, or those who experience gaps in public care services.
Suwon City will cover 5% to 30% of the out-of-pocket costs for the home medical visit service. Households with an income at or below 120% of the median income and national merit recipients will receive full support, while households with an income between 120% and 150% of the median income will receive 50% support.
The service can be used up to twice a month, within a 60-day period, and support is provided up to a maximum of 1.5 million won per year. Any additional medical procedures beyond the home medical visit service must be paid for by the patient. Six long-term care home medical centers are responsible for providing the home medical visit service.
The participating institutions in this project are: Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Suwon Hospital (Jeongja-dong, Jangan-gu), Saenal Clinic (Geumgok-dong, Gwonseon-gu), Ipbug Samsung Family Medicine Clinic (Ipbuk-dong, Gwonseon-gu), Home Doctor Preventive Medicine Clinic (Hadong, Yeongtong-gu), Taengja Oriental Medicine Clinic (Cheoncheon-dong, Jangan-gu), and Seryu Central Oriental Medicine Clinic (Seryu-dong, Gwonseon-gu).
Professional staff, including doctors, nurses, and social workers, will visit homes to provide examinations, prescriptions, disease management, basic tests, and educational counseling. Citizens who wish to use the service can apply at their local administrative welfare center.

"Suwon Saebit Care (For Everyone)" is a community-based program that identifies neighbors in need of care and provides tailored support services. Previously, it offered seven types of services: daily living care, companionship care, housing safety, meal support, temporary protection, rehabilitation care, and psychological counseling. With the addition of the pilot project supporting out-of-pocket expenses for home medical visit services, it has expanded to eight main services.
