One Chinese Man in His 60s Dies in Hwaseong Commercial-Residential Building Fire

At approximately 9:44 a.m. on August 17, a fire occurred at a three-story commercial-residential building located in Paltan-myeon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. A Chinese man in his 60s who was living in the building died in the incident. The fire was extinguished by firefighters who arrived at the scene, taking about 40 minutes to bring it under control.
The building consists of four commercial units on the first floor, with two studio apartments on the second floor and three on the third floor. The deceased man, who lived alone, reportedly fell from a window on the third floor. Other residents managed to evacuate on their own.
A resident who witnessed the fire stated, "The deceased fell while his clothes were on fire." Most of the interior of the affected unit was completely destroyed by the blaze.
A police official said, "The exact cause of the fire will be determined through forensic analysis," adding that an autopsy will be conducted on the body of the deceased.

The police and fire authorities believe the man died while trying to escape the fire and smoke, and are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
