"Eradicating False Real Estate Listings"
Seo District of Daejeon to Monitor Rental and Lease Advertisements
Guidelines and Checklists on Display and Advertising Compliance Distributed to 1,097 Local Real Estate Agencies
In order to enhance transparency in the real estate market and strengthen consumer protection, monitoring will now extend not only to real estate sales listings but also to the display and advertising of properties for rent and lease.
Starting August 13, the Seo District of Daejeon is intensively promoting relevant regulations to 1,097 licensed real estate agencies within its jurisdiction. This initiative aims to prevent damages caused by false online listings of real estate properties and to establish a fair trading order.
Since July, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has been monitoring not only sales listings but also the display and advertising of rental and lease properties. The results are reported to the relevant registration authorities, and administrative actions can be taken against violations.
Seo District is launching this campaign as a proactive measure to enhance transparency in the real estate market and strengthen consumer protection, considering that awareness of advertising regulations for rental and lease properties is relatively lower than for sales, leading to more frequent violations.
As part of this campaign, all real estate agencies in the district will be provided with key compliance requirements for display and advertising, as well as examples of violations. A checklist will also be distributed to facilitate voluntary self-inspection.
