Five Potholes Form on Roads in Jongno-gu, Seoul Due to Heavy Rain... Traffic Restricted
At around 12:30 p.m. on August 13, five road depressions (potholes) appeared near the Shinyeong-dong Samgeori intersection in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
According to Jongno-gu officials, the depth and diameter of the potholes varied, ranging from 30 cm to as much as 1.5 meters.
The district office has temporarily repaired three of the potholes using asphalt concrete and soil, and is currently working to restore the remaining two.
One lane where the potholes formed has been closed to traffic.
The district believes that the road depressions were caused by sewage backflow resulting from heavy rain that began earlier in the day.
