People Power Party Mayors Including Oh Sehun to Boycott 'National Appointment Ceremony' on August 15
Seoul Mayor Oh Sehun and other metropolitan mayors affiliated with the People Power Party have decided not to attend President Lee Jaemyung's "National Appointment Ceremony," which will be held on August 15, Liberation Day.
According to political sources on August 13, Mayor Oh made the decision to boycott the event in protest, judging that President Lee's special Liberation Day pardons were "beyond common sense." Other metropolitan mayors from the People Power Party have also shared this stance and decided not to attend.
Previously, on August 11, Mayor Oh strongly criticized the inclusion of ruling party figures such as former Cho Kuk Innovation Party leader Cho Kuk and former lawmaker Yoon Mihyang on the pardon list via social media, stating, "If you have power, you are innocent; if you are on my side, you are innocent. Why does criminal law even exist?"
