Strengthening Security and Resident Safety through Realistic Eulji Exercise
Yeongdeungpo District in Seoul (District Mayor Choi Hokwon) will conduct the "2025 Eulji Exercise" from August 18 to 21 to strengthen local security and ensure the safety of residents.
The Eulji Exercise is a training program designed to review emergency preparedness plans and ensure the seamless execution of wartime mission procedures to protect the nation and its people in the event of war, incidents, or a national emergency. This year, the district plans to strengthen cooperation among the civil sector, government, military, and police, and to review the roles of each organization and their response systems in realistic scenarios.

Various practical drills will also be held, such as emergency assembly training for public officials, organization of wartime departments and relocation drills for institutions, discussions on key wartime issues, protection drills for critical national facilities, and civil defense evacuation exercises.
From the second day, the district will discuss response measures for wartime grain distribution to review the Chungmu Plan, and conduct a joint counter-terrorism drill at the Arisu Water Purification Center with Unit 7688, Yeongdeungpo Police Station, and Yeongdeungpo Fire Station, simulating real-life situations.
On the third day, a special drill involving residents will take place. The Lotte Mart in Yangpyeong-dong will be used as the site for a "Civil Defense Evacuation Drill for Air Raid Preparedness," encouraging broad participation and raising security awareness. In particular, a "Military Equipment Exhibition" will be held at the main building and front yard of the Yeongdeungpo District Office, where residents can view South Korean and North Korean military equipment, as well as CBR (Chemical, Biological, Radiological) and drone equipment, which are not easily accessible in daily life.
In addition, the district is currently operating 106 "Neighborhood Civil Defense Shelters" to ensure residents' safety during emergencies such as air raid warnings, and will intensify publicity efforts in connection with the Eulji Exercise.
