The Busan International Film Festival Secretariat announced on August 13 that actors Lee Jungeun and Yoo Taeo have been selected as judges for this year's Actor of the Year Award.
Lee Jungeun has left a deep impression with her nuanced performances in dramas such as 'Mr. Sunshine,' 'Radiant,' and 'When the Camellia Blooms.' She also swept major Best Supporting Actress awards, including at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, for her role in the film 'Parasite.'
Yoo Taeo gained recognition with 'Leto,' an official selection in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, and has since been active both in Korea and internationally. His notable works include the film 'Vertigo' and dramas such as 'Money Game,' 'The School Nurse Files,' and 'The Recruit Season 2.' With the film 'Past Lives,' he became the first Korean actor to be nominated for Best Leading Actor at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).
The Actor of the Year Award is presented to spotlight and recognize actors in Korean feature-length independent films. One male and one female actor are selected, with the awards presented by veteran actors who have led the Korean film industry. Each winner receives a prize of 5 million won.
