Hanwool Semiconductor Named AI Factory Specialist... Launches Next-Generation AI Inspection Solution 'HawAIe'
Hanwool Semiconductor, a company specializing in semiconductor and electronic component inspection equipment, announced on August 13 that it has been selected as an 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Factory Specialist' by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT).
The goal of this initiative is to achieve highly autonomous production by integrating equipment and robots based on industrial AI into manufacturing processes. To this end, the program aims to discover and foster specialist companies that develop and supply AI autonomous manufacturing technologies, and to build an AI manufacturing ecosystem.
Hanwool Semiconductor was selected after receiving high marks for its future growth strategy, which is based on its experience in designing, manufacturing, and supplying AI-based equipment, as well as its development of AI integration technologies. The company has been recognized for its competitiveness in the rapidly changing global vision inspection market, leveraging its accumulated machine vision technology and extensive field experience. Hanwool Semiconductor currently provides advanced AI-based machine vision inspection solutions for a wide range of sectors, including semiconductors, electronic components, copper foil films, and displays. Its major clients include global companies such as Samsung Electro-Mechanics, LG Display, Samwha Capacitor, SK Nexilis, and Kyocera.
The company is accelerating the development of next-generation equipment, such as ultra-precision exterior inspection equipment, high-speed index inspection equipment, and glass substrate inspection equipment. Its strategy is to become a 'global best solution provider' by internalizing AI inspection technology.
In addition, Hanwool Semiconductor is strengthening its technological competitiveness by launching its proprietary AI brand, 'HawAIe (Hanwool AI Environment)'. Unlike traditional rule-based inspection methods, HawAIe applies deep learning-based image analysis technology, enabling precise detection of not only micro-defects but also irregular patterns. It is characterized by maintaining high recognition accuracy and reliability even under various lighting and background conditions.
The main features of HawAIe include: ▲ ultra-precision and ultra-high-speed AI inspection for real-time production line response ▲ remote status and result analysis through cloud-connected monitoring ▲ on-device lightweight AI operable even on compact devices ▲ anomaly detection based on the Internet of Things for predictive defect identification ▲ maximizing training efficiency by generating defective images using generative AI, among others.
A Hanwool Semiconductor representative stated, "HawAIe is an integrated AI inspection platform that even small and medium-sized manufacturers can adopt without burden," adding, "It will help optimize customer processes, minimize defect rates, improve maintenance efficiency, and accelerate the transition to smart factories."
