It was a meaningful occasion for young musicians to showcase their skills and foster cultural friendships.
The Midam Youth Wind Orchestra consists of elementary, middle, and high school students from the local area, as well as out-of-school youth, who focus on wind and percussion instruments. The orchestra operates as a weekend program every Saturday, running 40 weeks and 120 sessions annually.
Through this initiative, the orchestra provides advanced music education that is difficult to access through standard school curricula, aiming not only to train ensemble performance but also to cultivate community cooperation, character development, and artistic communication skills.
By participating in this event, the students had the opportunity to interact with youth wind orchestras from various countries and regions, broadening their musical abilities as well as their cultural sensitivity and global citizenship.
Founded in 1995, the Jeju International Wind Festival is a world-renowned wind music event held across Jeju Island under the slogan "The Whole Island Is a Stage," featuring performances by musicians and youth from Korea and abroad. In particular, "Youth Wind Day" is a stage that highlights the next generation of wind musicians and draws significant attention from the domestic and international music community every year.
