Busan Veterans Affairs Office to Hold Noksan Memorial Service for Unknown Anti-Japanese Fighters on August 14... Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Liberation

Honoring the Spirit of a Young Man Who Died Escaping from Gadeokdo
The Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office (headed by Namil Lee) will hold the 30th Memorial Service for Unknown Anti-Japanese Independence Fighters at 10:00 a.m. on August 14 at the memorial monument for unknown anti-Japanese fighters located in the small park of Seongsan 1-gu, Noksan-dong.
This event is organized by the Noksan Local Culture Center (Director: Eom Yunseong), and will be attended by the head of Gangseo District Office, the chairperson and members of the district council, the head of veterans affairs at the Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office, as well as approximately 70 local residents.
The ceremony will be divided into a memorial service and a ritual, and will proceed in the following order: national ceremony, reading of the monument inscription, memorial address, congratulatory remarks, singing of the Liberation Day song and three cheers for independence, floral tribute, and ancestral rites.
The Noksan-dong Memorial Monument for Unknown Anti-Japanese Fighters was erected by local residents on August 15, 1995, to honor the spirit of a young man who died in Noksan-dong while escaping from the Japanese military on Gadeokdo Island. The monument is currently designated and managed as a memorial facility.
