Gochang County Launches "Countywide Taegeukgi Flag Raising Campaign" for 80th Liberation Anniversary
Gochang County in North Jeolla Province is launching a "Countywide Taegeukgi Flag Raising Campaign" to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation.
According to the county on the 12th, this Taegeukgi flag raising campaign has been organized to honor the noble patriotism of the independence fighters and to elevate the dignity of the national flag. The campaign will center on Liberation Day, August 15, and will involve all county residents displaying the Taegeukgi at government offices, homes, private businesses, organizations, and along major roads.

View original imageThe flag raising times are as follows: government and public institution buildings?24 hours; main flagpoles at schools and military bases?during daylight hours; homes, private businesses, and organizations?from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
From August 13 to 15, the county plans to install around 2,000 street flags along major routes throughout the county to foster the Liberation Day spirit.
Guidelines specify that in single-family homes, the flag should be displayed at the main gate; in apartment buildings, at the center or left side of the balcony; indoors, on the left or center when facing the front; and for vehicles, on the left side as viewed from the front.
In particular, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation, the county will designate one exemplary flag-raising village in each of its 14 towns and townships, encouraging the establishment of a culture of flag-raising in daily life through focused participation.

County Governor Shim Deokseop stated, "The 80th anniversary of Liberation Day is a meaningful occasion to remember the sacrifices and dedication of our forebears and to practice love for our country. I hope all residents will voluntarily raise the Taegeukgi to share in the joy and significance of liberation."
