The Food Industry Advancement Smart Factory Support Project targets small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies engaged in food processing. It supports the establishment of smart factories at an "advanced" level or higher, enabling real-time factory and equipment control as well as process automation. A total of 15 companies will be selected, with each company eligible for up to 200 million won in support.
Applications can be submitted online through the Smart Factory Project Management System, following the announcement on the Korea Federation of SMEs website. Companies selected as final recipients will receive not only support for building smart factories, but also manufacturing site innovation mentoring from Samsung Electronics experts (mentors), workforce development for manufacturing innovation, and assistance in developing new sales channels.
Yang Chanhoe, Head of the Innovation Growth Headquarters at the Korea Federation of SMEs, stated, "We expect that this Food Industry Advancement Smart Factory Support Project will greatly contribute to strengthening the export competitiveness of the rapidly growing K-food sector by accelerating the automation of production processes, the advancement of food safety and quality management systems, and the establishment of data-driven operational systems in the food manufacturing industry."
