View original imageThe Department of Media, Film, and Performance at Honam University announced on the 11th that it held the 'President's Cup Youth Monologue Contest.'
The competition, which took place on August 9 at the Lalala Theater at Honam University, saw the participation of 52 high school students. Students who passed the first preliminary round performed monologues they had prepared in advance, showcasing their own interpretations and acting skills in front of the judges.
The panel of judges included experts from the performing arts and theater sectors, such as musical actor Nam Kyungup and Gwangju Theater Association President Ko Nanyeong. They conducted a meticulous and fair evaluation based on various criteria, including understanding of the work, expressiveness, and stage presence.
Through a fair judging process, a total of eight winners were selected for awards including the President's Award, the Grand Prize, and the Excellence Award. The final results and the awards ceremony are scheduled for August 11 and August 18, respectively.
This event was organized in connection with Honam University's 'Hokangs Program,' allowing participating students not only to compete but also to experience majors and explore career paths in the fields of film and performance. Through this, students were able to gain stage experience as well as various campus experiences, helping them to clarify their future career goals.

An official from the Department of Media, Film, and Performance at Honam University stated, "We plan to continue providing programs and career exploration opportunities related to performance and film for youth, with the aim of advancing cultural and artistic development in the local community."
