Gijang County Holds 2nd Anti-Corruption and Integrity Promotion Meeting... Accelerating Efforts to Build an Integrity-Focused Organizational Culture
Gijang County announced on August 6 that it held the '2nd Anti-Corruption and Integrity Promotion Meeting' on August 4, presided over by County Governor Jeong Jongbok, to accelerate the creation of an organizational culture of integrity.
This meeting was organized to improve areas vulnerable to corruption and to secure momentum for advancing integrity initiatives. It was the second such meeting, following the first one held in May.

View original imageThe meeting was attended by County Governor Jeong, the Deputy Governor, directors of departments, heads of bureaus and divisions, and heads of towns and townships. They discussed the following topics: the current status of this year's integrity initiatives, plans to improve areas vulnerable to corruption in the second half of the year, the results of a survey on integrity improvement, and practical measures to enhance integrity.
Based on this meeting, the county plans to continue promoting 33 integrity initiatives across four areas: operation of the anti-corruption and integrity management system, efforts to improve internal perception, creation of a transparent public service culture, and strengthening of preemptive anti-corruption systems. The county aims to achieve the highest grade in the comprehensive integrity assessment and to foster a clean public sector.
County Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, "All public officials must pay attention to advancing multifaceted integrity initiatives to prevent corruption factors in advance and to improve unreasonable practices." He also urged senior officials to take the lead in creating a clean Gijang, especially by eliminating power abuse and workplace harassment.

Gijang County achieved the highest grade (Grade 1) in the integrity perception category and Grade 2 in the overall integrity category in the '2024 Comprehensive Integrity Assessment of Public Institutions' conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. In particular, the county scored 81.3 points in the integrity perception survey, which is 8 points higher than the average for basic local governments (counties).
