Daegu to Recruit 203 Public School Teachers Next Year... 44 More Than This Year
Announcement of "Preliminary Notice for the Competitive Examination"
The Daegu Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Eunhee) announced the "Preliminary Notice for the 2026 Public School Teacher Recruitment Competitive Examination" on its website on August 6.
For the "2026 Public School Teacher Recruitment Examination," which will be held simultaneously in 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education, the Daegu Office of Education plans to recruit a total of 203 new teachers: 11 kindergarten teachers, 78 elementary school teachers, 102 secondary school teachers, and 12 special education teachers (10 for elementary, 2 for secondary).
Compared to the 2025 academic year, the number of kindergarten and special education teachers has each decreased by one, while the number of elementary and secondary school teachers has increased by 5 and 44, respectively, resulting in an overall increase of 47 positions.
The recruitment examination for kindergarten, elementary, and special (elementary) teachers will have its official announcement on September 10. Online applications will be accepted for five days from September 22 to September 26, and the first round of the exam will be held on November 8.
The recruitment examination for secondary and special (secondary) teachers will have its official announcement on October 1. Online applications will be accepted for five days from October 13 to October 17, and the first round of the exam will be held on November 22.

With the removal of the validity period for the Korean History Proficiency Test scores starting from the 2024 academic year, all scores of level 3 or higher obtained up to the 76th Korean History Proficiency Test, scheduled for October 18, 2025, will be recognized as valid for the 2026 teacher recruitment examination.
