Pocheon City organized this event in accordance with the e-sports development business agreement signed with MiraeN Esports Co., Ltd. (Chairperson Kim Oksun) in December of last year. Through this initiative, the city expects to lay the foundation for nurturing young talent and revitalizing local leisure culture.
MiraeN Esports Co., Ltd., which operates the team, manages a total of 10 professional teams both domestically and internationally, including the Pocheon-based team. It is a specialized club with a standardized professional team system for player selection and development, as well as tournament organization.
The Battlegrounds team of 'FN Pocheon' advanced to the finals of the '2025 Esports World Cup' to be held in Saudi Arabia, just six months after its founding. The tournament will take place from August 11 to 18 and can be watched live through online channels.
Chairperson Kim Oksun stated, "I am very grateful to have established a world-class team with the active support of Pocheon City," and added, "We will actively foster the e-sports sector integrated with drones, a first in the nation, and contribute to the development of both local amateur and professional players."
Mayor Baek Younghyun said, "I am pleased that 'FN Pocheon' has been founded under the club's systematic support," and continued, "We will help citizens get closer to e-sports and create a foundation for nurturing future talent by attracting national-level tournaments."
