In response to recent heavy rainfall and other factors that have reduced the functionality of sand-based playgrounds, a playground maintenance project is being carried out to improve these facilities and remove weeds from playgrounds in town and township areas ahead of the new school term, with the goal of creating a more pleasant educational environment.
According to the School Support Headquarters of the Sejong City Office of Education, the project targets five schools in the region and includes the reapplication of sand to playgrounds, cleaning of drainage channels, replacement of old or damaged drainage covers, and repairs to safety facilities necessary for physical activities. The work is scheduled to be completed by August, utilizing the summer vacation period so as not to interfere with the academic calendar.
For the first time this year, the project will also support all stages of playground maintenance in a one-stop manner for ten schools in town and township areas, which have a high concentration of weeds due to their proximity to rivers and hills. This will be achieved using self-manufactured watering tanks and specialized ground cleaner equipment to remove weeds and level the playgrounds.
