Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Donghoon) announced on August 6 that it will open a Buchang Bakery store for the first time in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, located on the basement first floor of the main building.
Buchang Bakery is a brand created by actor Lee Jangwoo, who gained attention on variety shows for his exceptional passion for food and outstanding cooking skills, in collaboration with a food content company. Within just six months of its launch, the brand surpassed 100 million cumulative sales, drawing significant attention in the domestic dessert industry.

View original imageThe brand is inspired by Buchang Bakery, which sold bread and walnut cookies in Gyeongju in the 1960s. Its key feature is the generous use of walnuts and sweet bean paste, providing a heightened sense of satisfaction when enjoyed.
The signature menu item at Buchang Bakery is the Uyuni Salt Walnut Cookie. This walnut cookie features a sweet and smooth milk cream combined with salt from Bolivia's Uyuni Salt Flat, offering a refined balance of sweet and salty flavors.

In addition to the Uyuni Salt Walnut Cookie, the bakery also sells walnut cookies filled with red bean paste, whole green peas, Injeolmi, and Jeju matcha. A box of 12 walnut cookies (choice of two types) is priced at 8,000 KRW, while a gift set of 18 cookies (9 red bean paste, 9 whole green peas) is available for 15,000 KRW.
