Former Minister Kim Yonghyun Refuses to Appear Before Chae Sangbyeong Special Prosecutor, Requests Detention Center Interview
The legal team representing former Defense Minister Kim Yonghyun announced on August 5 that they will not comply with the summons for a witness interview by the Chae Sangbyeong special prosecutor, which is scheduled for August 6.
On this day, Kim's attorneys stated, "Former Minister Kim received notice from the Chae Sangbyeong special prosecutor to appear at 10 a.m. on August 6, but the legal team was only informed of this today." They added, "It is not possible to exercise the right to legal counsel with such short notice, having been notified only one day in advance, so he cannot appear tomorrow."
They further stated, "We request that the investigation be conducted in the detention center, in accordance with standard procedures for those who are incarcerated, and that scheduling be coordinated with the legal team in advance."
