Korea Customs Service Releases Korea-US Item Number Correlation Table for Copper Semi-Finished Products
The Korea Customs Service announced on August 5 that it has posted the "Korea-US Item Number Correlation Table" for copper semi-finished products and the updated correlation table for mutually exempted tariff items on its official website.
This announcement was made in response to the US administration’s statement on July 30 that it would impose a 50% tariff on 80 items, including copper semi-finished products, based on US HS codes.
The scope of US tariffs on copper items now newly includes electrically insulated wire (HS code 8544). However, previously announced mutually exempted items?copper ores and concentrates (HS code 2603), slag, ash, and residues containing copper (HS code 2620), and copper raw materials (HS codes 7401 to 7405)?are not included.
The Korea Customs Service has matched the US item numbers (HTS) released by the US with Korea’s 10-digit item numbers (HSK), enabling Korean exporters to verify which items are subject to tariffs based on their export declaration item numbers (HSK).
Previously, in response to US tariff policies, the Korea Customs Service posted Korea-US item number correlation tables for steel and aluminum derivative products (March 18 and June 16), automobiles and parts (April 18), and mutually exempted items (May 19) on its website.
