KOSPI and KOSDAQ Both Open Higher, Up Nearly 2%
KOSPI Recovers 3,200 Mark
Gains Accelerate After Market Open
On the morning of August 5, the KOSPI rebounded above the 3,200 mark in early trading, showing strong gains. The KOSDAQ is also up by nearly 2%, continuing its upward momentum from the previous day.
As of 9:11 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI index stands at 3,206.06, up 1.85% from the previous trading day. After opening at 3,187.15, which is 1.25% higher than the previous session, the index has continued to climb.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions are net buyers, purchasing 22.5 billion KRW and 13.5 billion KRW respectively, while individual investors are net sellers, offloading 41.7 billion KRW.
Most sectors are rising. The insurance, finance, and securities sectors are leading the rally with gains of 2.79%, 2.51%, and 2.40% respectively. This is followed by machinery and equipment (2.26%), electrical and electronics (2.25%), electricity and gas (1.95%), manufacturing (1.88%), chemicals and distribution (1.85%), metals (1.69%), and transportation equipment and parts (1.57%). Only the IT services sector is down, declining by 0.47%.
All of the top 10 stocks by market capitalization are also on the rise. Samsung Electronics (2.01%), SK Hynix (1.94%), LG Energy Solution (2.40%), Samsung Biologics (1.15%), Hanwha Aerospace (0.85%), Hyundai Motor (1.42%), KB Financial Group (3.78%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (2.05%), and Doosan Enerbility (1.87%) are among them. In addition, Kia (0.58%) and Celltrion (0.75%) are also gaining.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is up 1.75% from the previous trading day, standing at 797.78. It started the session at 791.94, up 1.01% from the previous close, and has continued to rise. Foreign investors are net buyers, purchasing 19.9 billion KRW, while individuals and institutions are net sellers, selling 13.5 billion KRW and 3.5 billion KRW respectively.
On the KOSDAQ, all sectors except telecommunications (-0.14%) are on the rise. Electrical and electronics (2.64%), chemicals (2.19%), finance and metals (2.06%), machinery and equipment (2.04%), transportation equipment and parts (1.93%), manufacturing (1.83%), distribution (1.74%), construction (1.63%), textiles and apparel (1.55%), and paper and wood (1.31%) are among the top gainers.

Among the top KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, except for HLB (-0.63%) and Hugel (-1.08%), most are showing strong gains. Alteogen (2.89%), Ecopro BM (5.83%), Peptron (1.19%), Ecopro (4.17%), PharmaResearch (2.34%), Rainbow Robotics (3.25%), LigachemBio (3.10%), Samchundang Pharm (1.95%), and ABL Bio (2.37%) are all posting significant increases.
