Guri City Launches Customized Commercial District Revitalization Project Utilizing Brand Assets
Guri City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyunghyun) announced on August 4 that it has been finally selected as a Type I city/county in the "2025 Commercial District-Friendly City Development Project" contest, organized by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi-do Market Commercial District Promotion Agency (hereinafter referred to as "Gyeonggi Sangwon").
The "Commercial District-Friendly City Development Project" is a contest project in which Gyeonggi Province supports improvements to commercial district environments, content development, and the establishment of a foundation for mutual cooperation, based on fact-finding surveys and comprehensive plans targeting cities and counties within the province. Selected cities and counties receive a budget ranging from 400 million to 600 million KRW, with provincial and municipal funds matched at a 1:1 ratio. As a result, Guri City will be able to invest a total project budget of 600 million KRW (290 million KRW from the province and 300 million KRW from the city) into local commercial districts.
Through this project, Guri City plans to focus on creating a branded commercial district by linking local signature content such as the Waguri character and commercial district festivals. In particular, the city will accelerate the creation of a sustainable ecosystem for local commercial districts through improvements to store environments, support for small business sales channels, and specialized strategies tailored to each commercial area. Guri City also plans to actively pursue customized strategies for commercial district revitalization that reflect the region's unique characteristics and brand assets.
