On August 4, Jeollanam-do announced that Governor Kim Yungrok and ASEAN-Korea Centre Secretary General Kim Jaeshin signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in the governor's reception room to promote the success of the Namdo International Gourmet Industry Expo and enhance regional exchanges.
With all 10 ASEAN member states officially confirming their participation in the expo, the two parties discussed ways to expand tourism, trade, investment, and cultural exchanges with the ASEAN region moving forward.
The two organizations agreed to work closely in various fields, including establishing a cooperative network for joint collaboration and exchange activation for the 2025 Namdo International Gourmet Industry Expo, as well as supporting programs to enhance mutual cultural understanding.
The ASEAN-Korea Centre is an international organization that serves as a bridge to promote mutual understanding and practical cooperation between Korea and the 10 ASEAN countries. It has organized a variety of events in the culture and tourism sectors, such as the ASEAN Culinary Festival and the operation of pavilions.
This year, the ASEAN Pavilion, featuring participation from all ASEAN member states, will be held at the expo venue. In particular, this year's ASEAN Pavilion is significant as it marks the first resumption of food-related events in Jeollanam-do since they were suspended due to COVID-19.
