Jeonbuk Province Recruiting Participants for Low-Carbon Agriculture Program
Applications accepted until the 29th
Activity support funds provided for farmers
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province is recruiting participants for the "2025 Second Half Low-Carbon Agriculture Program Pilot Project" until August 29.
According to the province on August 4, this project provides activity support funds to farmers who practice low-carbon farming activities such as mid-season drainage, shallow intermittent irrigation of paddy fields, biochar application, and autumn plowing.
The participation requirement has been relaxed from last year's 50 hectares or more to 20 hectares or more this year, in response to requests from local governments and farmers. Only agricultural corporations or producer organizations are eligible to apply, and individual farmers can participate through these organizations.
The second half program, newly introduced this year, supports activity funds of 460,000 won per hectare for autumn plowing. Organizations wishing to participate should apply directly to the relevant department at their local city or county office.
In the first half of the year, 40 agricultural corporations participated, covering an area of 4,959 hectares. After implementation inspections by Korea Rural Community Corporation, the activity funds are scheduled to be paid in December.
Min Sunshik, Director of the Department of Agricultural Life, Livestock, and Food, said, "We hope that agricultural corporations and producer organizations will actively participate in this second half pilot project to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the agricultural sector by practicing low-carbon farming activities."
