On August 1, Council Chair Kim Kyungdo and other city council members visited the Woryeonggyo Bridge area to thoroughly check the operation of performance venues, the safety management system, and the arrangement of convenience facilities.
The council members received briefings from event officials regarding the operation plan and safety measures, and directly listened to the opinions of citizens and tourists visiting the site. In particular, they emphasized the importance of preventing safety accidents and creating a comfortable viewing environment, considering the characteristics of a night festival held during a heatwave and attended by large crowds.
Chair Kim stated, "Woryeong Night Walk is a representative night-time tourism content that blends Andong's tradition and modern culture, and it plays a significant role in revitalizing the local economy. The city council will pay close attention to ensure that both citizens and tourists can enjoy the festival safely and with peace of mind."
He also added, "The city council will continue to support the development and successful operation of local cultural events in the future."
Based on this inspection, the Andong City Council plans to continuously review the overall operation of the event and consider necessary support, such as strengthening safety management and expanding convenience facilities.
In addition, the council plans to strengthen policy support so that regional festivals, including Woryeong Night Walk, can make a tangible contribution to attracting tourists and revitalizing local businesses. At the same time, they will focus on gathering a wide range of citizen feedback to further enhance the quality of the event.
