YGPA and Habitat for Humanity Join Hands to Improve Housing for the Vulnerable
Donation to Provide Homes for Low-Income Families and People with Disabilities
Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (YGPA, hereinafter referred to as the Authority, Acting President Hwang Hakbeom) announced on July 31 that it held a donation ceremony for the "Hope House Building and Repair Project" on July 29. This project aims to improve the residential environment for low-income families and group homes for people with disabilities in the region.
The donation ceremony was attended by Hwang Hakbeom, Acting President of the Authority, Kim Yongho, Chairman of the Eastern Jeonnam Branch of Habitat for Humanity, as well as directors Lee Kwonik, Nam Kiho, and Kim Yoonsu.

View original imageThe Eastern Jeonnam Branch of Habitat for Humanity has selected 41 vulnerable households in Jeonnam this year whose residential environment urgently needs improvement. Among them, the Authority plans to support 15 low-income families and group homes for people with disabilities.
Hwang Hakbeom, Acting President, stated, "We will continue to collaborate with Habitat for Humanity to improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups and will actively support our neighbors so they can live more safely and warmly."

Meanwhile, since 2017, the Authority has collaborated with the Eastern Jeonnam Branch of Habitat for Humanity to support a variety of projects, including improving housing facilities for elderly people living alone and low-income households, creating study rooms for multicultural families, providing housing support for homeless vulnerable groups, and repairing homes for low-income national merit recipients. To date, the Authority has helped improve the residential environment for a total of 84 households. In addition, every year, the Authority's employee volunteer group participates in house building and repair volunteer activities, putting neighborly love into practice.
