'Capturing the New Wave' EBS International Documentary Film Festival Opens Next Month
Sixty-two Documentaries from Thirty-five Countries to Be Screened
EBS announced on the 29th that the 22nd EBS International Documentary Film Festival will be held from August 25 to 31 at various venues including Ilsan Lake Park in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, the EBS Digital Integrated Headquarters, Megabox Baekseok Bellacitta, Emu Cinema in Seoul, and Community House Masil.
This is the longest-running documentary film festival in South Korea. This year, under the slogan "Capture the New Wave," the festival will screen sixty-two documentary films from thirty-five countries that capture the trends of a new era.
In particular, a new "Creative Documentary" section will be introduced, bringing together innovative documentaries that utilize artificial intelligence (AI), animation, and dramatic techniques.
In the competition section, four awards will be presented, including the Grand Prize and the Jury Special Award. Among cultural and artistic documentaries, works will also be selected for the Excellence Award and Special Award.

Kim Kwangho, Executive Director of EIDF, explained, "We have curated the program with more experimental and multi-layered works, considering how documentaries can capture the flow of the times and what perspectives they can offer on society."
