In particular, the inspections will focus on the safety management system, including the marking of buoys in swimming areas, the working status of safety personnel, the operation status of safety equipment, and response measures for hazardous marine life such as jellyfish. Additionally, the inspections will cover the management of user environments, including the cleanliness of sandy beaches, restrooms, and showers, as well as the proper functioning of convenience facilities such as foot-washing stations and drinking fountains.
Since April, Jeollanam-do has conducted comprehensive inspections of 66 designated beaches to prepare for summer natural disasters, held meetings to establish cooperative systems with related agencies, and carried out joint inspections with fire departments, the coast guard, and local police to ensure safe beach operations.
Prior to the opening of beaches, risk assessments were conducted to identify potential hazards in advance, and follow-up measures such as the installation of additional warning signs and safety equipment were completed.
In addition, to provide clean and safe beach operations, a budget of 2.7 billion won was allocated to repair convenience facilities such as showers and restrooms.
A total of 262 safety management personnel were hired, and 3,718 safety devices, including jet skis and life jackets, were secured. Environmental inspections were also conducted to ensure clean water quality and proper management of sandy beaches.
Park Taegun, Director of Island and Marine Policy for Jeollanam-do, stated, "With the peak vacation season upon us, we expect many people to visit the beaches. We will ensure that everyone can enjoy the beach safely and comfortably by promptly taking safety measures without overlooking even the smallest risk factors."
